Portrait of the Artist

Julie traced a long and winding path through art to discover her ultimate love of photography. She started out pursuing drawing and painting and became partial to the use of chalk pastels, not least because of her love for rich, vibrant color.

She sang in choir and dabbled in theater. She tried and took a liking to jewelry making, graphic design, and writing fiction. Each endeavor revealed a natural aptitude and talent, but she always felt the pull to do something more.

Throughout it all, though, Julie’s primary artistic strength has always been her ability to visualize the things she wants to create with a remarkable detail. Her hunger to learn and her quick intellect let her race through normal learning curves to produce work that matches her vision in record time.

In March 2009, Julie began studying the craft of photography from a mentor she admired deeply. Jaclyn of Jaclyn Marie Photography gave Julie a handful of  photography lessons to teach her how to use her old Canon Rebel camera, and introduced the basics of quality photography and image editing with Photoshop.

Photography proved the perfect fit for Julie. It allows her to share her artistic vision more clearly than she ever has before, providing an ideal medium for her to display the depth of color and the unique style of her subjects that she so loves.

As Julie V. Photography finds its feet in a competitive business world, Julie looks forward to the freedom the Consortium will give her to do the part of the business she does best — seeing the beauty in people and in the world, and creating art that presents it to her audience in a rich, vibrant fashion.
